I've begun to collect quite a collection of good books on the theme of Simplicity. Unfortunately none of them seem to provide any clear solutions. I recommend the book by Barry Schwartz called The Paradox of Choice. Schwartz gives an excellent survey of work in the social sciences that indicates that more choices is too many. Another book I recommend (at least for the first chapter) is The Wisdom of Crowds by James Surowiecki. Surowiecki's book isn't necessarily about simplicity, but it seems to give you the sense that more is often times better.
